Landscaping On A Budget: 4 Helpful Tips

Whether you just need a couple tweaks to your lawn or require an entire yard makeover, there’s one thing most people have in common: they want to do their landscaping on a budget.

This is completely understandable. After all, very few of us have enough disposable income to do whatever we wish.

However, at the same time, it’s important to remember that “cheap” doesn’t always mean high-quality. And, when considering something as long-term as landscaping, you want to make sure the job is done right (while not costing you an arm and a leg).

At Mountain View Landscapes, we ensure you’re satisfied with the finished project while still remaining within your budget. That’s why we want to offer you some advice on…

Landscaping On A Budget: 4 Helpful Tips

Have A Plan

Once you start discovering all the types of materials and landscaping options that are out there, it can be easy to get carried away and blow your budget. That’s why people tend to be much more successful when they come in with a plan. First, figure out your budget. Then do your research in advance, and assess the materials you’ll be needing. Remember that certain materials will cost more than others, and this can add up quickly if you’re not careful. In addition, evaluate your landscape’s needs, and segregate your wish list into “needs” versus “wants.” This will help you pinpoint what needs to be done first.

Start With The Basics

When assessing your landscape, it can be beneficial to focus on the basics. For example, does your yard need lush grass, perennials, and/or shrubs? These are common additions that can spruce up the look of any landscape, and tend to be more affordable. Then, once these elements are covered, it’s time to look from a broader perspective and opt for more detailed additions, such as elegant stone pathways, comforting fire pits, and beautiful water features.

Break It Up Into Phases

Oftentimes, people don’t have a budget large enough to make all the changes they want to right away. As a result, it can be beneficial to break the entire project up into phases, and make changes as you’re financially able. This can also be beneficial, seeing as many people change their minds as time goes on, and as they discover more options to implement into their landscape.

Work With A Professional (Unless You Have Lots Of Experience)

Most people have at least one story of when they attempted to fix, repair, or design something… only for it not to turn out as they’d hoped. And landscape design is one area that can go very wrong if you’re not sure what you’re doing. That’s why it’s typically much more cost-effective to hire a professional landscape designer. Their team of experts will work with your vision and create the landscape you were hoping for (and often so much more).

Very professional and reasonably priced. Russ is an honest man who sticks to his word. Highly recommend. Phillip is a very hard worker and did an excellent job on the french drains he installed. Definitely will do business with them again. Thank you so much

I had Russ do a job 3 weeks ago in the pouring rain. I needed a sprinkler system installed, a walkway with boarders put in, demolish and remove my old shed and put in close to 500sq ft of sod. Not only did I get a great price, but just as important, he and his crew were top notch. On time, cleaned up every day before they left and busted their butts through 5 or 6 days of downpours. Phillip and Salvador were very professional and didn’t mind my questions. They really went the extra mile. Because of the weather there were areas that my grass got beat up and where they had trenched. No worries though, because they put sod down there also. Russ stopped by everyday to check with me and his guys which really impressed me and came back by a few days after completion and fertilized the yard. Just so top notch! Would highly recommend.them for any landscaping job. My neighbor was so impressed, Russ is putting in a sprinkler system for her and resoding her front yard. Really can’t say enough good about these guys! Absolutely 5 out of 5 stars

I just had my entire yard done by Russ and his crew. They did a awesome job! New sod, bark dust, trees and a water feature. Russ is very easy to work with and his men were very professional. I would highly recommend Mountain View Landscaping. I was also very happy with his prices. I would use them again for any landscaping project in my future! Thanks for such a great experience. I am very happy with the outcome.

I called Russ and got an immediate return call. He came out, listened to my design request and gave me an incredibly reasonable bid. During execution a few of my desires changed and he was accommodating and fair and completed the project in two days in a timely way. I would return to this company again as it is trustworthy and his guys have been with him for years.
