Six Ideas for Social Distance Landscaping

Mar 26, 2020General

There’s never been a better time to enjoy the great outdoors and get some much-needed vitamin D, all while improving the look of your landscaping. As states across the Pacific Northwest encourage residents to practice “social distancing” and shelter in place, why not spend a little extra time investing at home? Below are six creative ideas to get you out of the house without putting yourself or your community in harm’s way.

Six Ideas for Social Distance Landscaping

Take care of business. Get out there and cut back last season’s dead grasses, perennial foliage, fallen branches, and other debris. Take a look at your lawn – does it need edging? Reseeding? Are there bare spots that need some extra care?

Start some seeds. Grasses, veggies, herbs, and flowers can all be started with some dirt, seeds, and a collection of empty yogurt containers at home. This is an especially good project if you have some children out of school right now.

Plan your next project. Have you been thinking for years about a retaining wall? Have you been meaning to research the next trees you’ll add to the property? What about irrigation systems or planter boxes? Now is a great time to research your options and make a plan to carry it out this spring as the days get longer.

Take an online class. There are lots of options online for landscaping and gardening classes, from beginners to advanced specialty topics. You can also search YouTube for a whole list of instructional videos on topics you find interesting.

Get inspired. Many public garden websites are loaded with photos, or even offer virtual tours. Spend some time enjoying their work and get inspired with some ideas of your own! A good starting point is the Gardenvisit.com website.

Here’s what one recent customer had to say about her experience with Mountainview Landscapes:

“I am always told by my neighbors that I have the best looking yard in the neighborhood…which I do. That is because of Mountain View Landscapes. They redid my entire yard and added sprinklers, a slate patio and a wonderful water feature.

My yard is beautiful and always looks perfect. The ongoing maintenance is done by a great crew that is friendly and really cares about doing a good job.

They are the best. Thank you!
